Career Alliance has requested the following waiver from Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth:
Career Alliance request that the statutory requirement of allowing 30% of dislocated worker funds be waived, and allow 100% of dislocated worker funds be transferred to the adult worker program for program year 2006-2007.
The outcome to be achieved by obtaining this waiver will be an additional 250 participants will be served in the Adult worker program, the additional participants will enroll in the current Career Alliance WIA Adult program and will be added to the MIS system and will meet the performance standards set by the MDLEG. In addition Career Alliance will conduct monthly site visit to monitor the fiscal and programmatic components of the program, to ensure accountability for federal funds.
This request is being made due to the fact that we have greater number of people wanting to get into the Adult worker program and less in the Dislocated Worker program.
Adult worker program provides the same services as a dislocated worker program. In order to participate in the dislocated worker program you must be a dislocated worker.
The Adult worker program can service both dislocated and adult clients.
